About the Author

Dr. Jasmine McQuay is a lifelong learner and educator. She has been a middle school math teacher, Director of Educational Equity, Assistant Principal, and a Director of Curriculum and Instruction. She received her doctorate in educational leadership from Fordham University.  He was an army veteran, diagnosed with leukemia, and she gave him the gift of a dog, Burt, to be his companion throughout his battle. Burt quickly turned their lives upside down, in a good way, and became just what they both needed.  Her father, who succumbed to Leukemia in the  2022, and Bougie Burt were the inspiration for her becoming an author.
